Field Trip - Paleontology and Utah History
Back in April, the students had the opportunity to visit two museums at Brigham Young University (BYU), the Museum of Paleontology and the Museum of Peoples and Cultures. At the Musuem of Paleontology, the students were greeted by Dr. Brooks Britt, the chair of the Department of Geological Sciences and head of paleontology. He had one of his students, Jacob Frewin, lead the kids on a tour of the museum, teaching them the significance and history of the specimens. They even got to "pet" a dinosaur by touching an imprint of dinosaur skin. At the end, Jacob allowed the children to each keep a small piece of a dinosaur bone.
